Leila Nora (Hicks) Bowers

Lelia Nora (Hicks) Bowers was born August 22, 1887, in Orange County, Virginia, the daughter of Peter Wesley Hicks and Lucy Mabel Bond. She married William Vernon Bowers in 1909, and they had two children, Hazel (Bowers) May and Lelia (Bowers) Duxbury. Lelia joined Orange Baptist Church by letter transfer on June 25, 1925. She enjoyed music and sang in the choir throughout her life. Her grandchildren and great-grandson live on their family farm today.
