Ron "Lefty" Tydings

Ron Tydings, ("Lefty" to his high school and college friends), graduated from Orange County High School in 1958 where he was an outstanding student and excelled in football, basketball, and baseball.  Upon graduation from OCHS, Ron was awarded a $1,000.00 scholarship for his academic accomplishments.  Using this scholarship and working for room and board, he attended the University of Virginia, where he earned a B.A. in Economics in 1962 and an L.L.B in 1966.  Ron also played on the varsity baseball team at UVA.

Ron married Barrie Ruth Jones in 1962 and they were the proud parents of sons Ron Jr. and Kevin.  He practiced law for more than 50 years in Fairfax, VA, primarily with Tydings, Bryan & Adams, P.C., and with Odin Feldman Pittleman PC.

In 1985 he co-founded Fairfax Bank & Trust where he served as Chairman of the Board and General Legal Counsel.

Ron was community-minded, serving various organizations, including the Fairfax Jaycees, Evergreen Lions Club, Evergreen Country Club, Fair Lakes Rotary Club, and the Alzheimer's Association. He was also a member of Farmington Country Club.  As an avid UVA sports fan, he supported the Virginia Athletic Foundation for more than 50 years.  Ron was a season ticket holder of UVA football, basketball, and baseball teams and witnessed UVA winning national championships in basketball and baseball.

He served on the board of directors of OCHS Alumni and Friends Foundation and was a firm believer that education leads to success.  Ron leaves a legacy of being a man of high integrity, kindness, loyalty, encouragement, and generosity.
